Abstract
The Four Elements of Nature (Earth, Water, Fire, and Air) form the thematic foundation of the present investigation, on surreal anthropomorphic sculptural expressions of the four elements. The sculptures were created through a personal, esoteric and metaphorical interpretation, materialized using the technique of direct modeling in papier maché, between 2019 and 2024 in the artist’s studio. These sculptural pieces were exhibited in Sala 1 of the Galería Nacional de Arte y Cultura “Mariano Fuentes Lira” at the National University of Art Diego Quispe Tito in Cusco, aiming to raise awareness among viewers and foster consciousness of the intrinsic connection between the four elements and the human being. The present investigation followed a methodology based on observation, introspective analysis, and explanation, alongside a semiotic and aesthetic reading of the artworks. Descriptive statistics were also applied. The findings conclude that the four elements of nature and the human being are intrinsically connected and in constant interrelation. By becoming aware of this connection, we can begin to improve society, starting with ourselves as human beings, promoting care, peace, respect, love, and unity with our Mother Nature.
